It is said that long ago in the era of moving life, there were several groups of people who found a very large area of land. Which was the former of an ancient volcanic eruption. Then they decided to live permanently in the area.
Mereka lalu menggarap lahan yg mereka temukan .ketika musim hujan , mereka mulai bercocok tanam ,ada yg menanam padi dan palawija untuk kebutuhan hidup. .kawasan ini sangatlah subur.
They then worked on the land they found. During the rainy season, they started farming, some planted rice and secondary crops for their daily needs. This area is very fertile.
A few months later, their crops are thriving and ready to be harvested..
A very large field they have to harvest it by mutual cooperation. The mothers harvest the rice, while the men carry the harvest to be stored in the barn. This activity countinues until all the rice is finised
Keajaiban pun terjadi.
A miracle happened, they harvested rice together from south to north. After harvesting in the north, however, rice in the south grows rapidly and is ready to be harvested again. Very rich results.
Hal ini pula yg menyebabkan mereka kehabisan akal untk memanennya. Padi yg mereka panen tidak pernah habis.
This also couses them to run out of ideas to harvest it. The rice they harvest never runs out.
Because they are tired of resting and joking, they have a habit of sticking glanggang into the ground. They joked that God was playing games with them. Complaining about being tired and so on.
But the rice paddies that they glanggang into the ground hit the water vessels in the ground. It is inevitable that the water that emerges from the ground is getting bigger day by day.
Dan akhirnya air pun menenggelamkan seluruh padi mereka. Mereka terpaksa harus berpindah tempat kembali. Dan mencari lahan yang baru. Dan mereka pun menuju arah utara. Lahan mereka berubah menjadi sebuah danu besar
And finally the water drowned all their rice. They had to move back and look for new land. And they headed north. Their land turned into a big lake.
Many years later, during the reign of Bali. There was a king who meditated around the mountain above the lake known as mount Mangu. In the king’s meditation, he saw a golden yellow light on the adge of the lake.
Then from the incident, the king ordered the Patih and some of his people to build a temple on the edge of the lake as the king’s gratitude to God Almighty.
We know this temple today as Ulun Danu Beratan Temple. A place of worship for Dewi Danu as the Goddes of prosperity and fertility. And the sacred yellow bamboo that grows south of the temple is believed to have grown from the glanggang rice
